Exchange: Inner City
Summer 2017 / Research, Naming, Brand Strategy, Brand Narrative, Brand Identity, Visual Design, Website Design
Formerly a city initiative called "CEDSAC", this nonprofit fosters a community where all residents can live full and prosperous lives. Exchange: Inner City's influence with policy makers enables effective implementation of community owned and driven economic development strategies.
WHAT
There was an opportunity to create a brand that champions communication between the City of Vancouver and its low-income residents, and effectively incubate and implement large initiatives. Through meaningful collaborations with residents, businesses, and organizations, Exchange works to create positive economic growth that benefits all residents.
HOW
Informed by research and interviews with residents and organization representatives, Railyard 2017 developed a name, brand strategy, tactful narrative, and refined brand identity. Exchange is the bridge between the city and the people; it was vital the brand balanced both professionalism and approachability. Collaboration and resourcefulness are the brands hallmark.
IMPACT
Created guidelines for a vibrant brand identity inspired by diversity and community; a logo that is resident friendly, but can live alongside the branding of developers, the City of Vancouver, and businesses; Exchange-branded presentation and e-newsletter templates for upcoming communications. The look and feel of collateral, including a website, were also prepared.
