Local Economic Development (LED) Lab

Fall 2015 / Brand Strategy, Brand Identity, Website Design, Website Development

LED Lab is an eco-development lab that supports organizations in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside using  a community assets-based approach to develop opportunities and systems thinking solutions. It is an initiative that employs masters students, born out of a partnership between Radius SFU and Ecotrust Canada.

We were tasked with helping LED Lab launch in the social innovation and economic development sphere through creating a brand identity that effectively communicates the value they provide and the results of their various initiatives to the community.

Initial naming opportunities were explored along with integral brand DNA elements in collaboration with the Lab’s director. Jayde Chang, a Railyard Apprentice, designed the identity based on a thorough research of the community, the Lab’s initiatives and other organizations that conduct local economic development work. The website was developed with target audiences in mind using a clean, easy to navigate approach.
